Then I can get an idea of a song's whole concept in my brain and I start to write. I go out to my back porch with my guitar, and then the lyrics appear and it's usually finished in just thirty minutes. Niykee states that, as she develops as a lyricist, the painful memories of her childhood serve as an source of inspiration. She says that even when she's not writing about the things which are actually happening, all of her pain from childhood and grief over the loss of her daughter find its way into music. It shapes my songs and helps to create this greater meaning under everything which is among the most significant things for me. I want to be able to say that I could listen to any of my music 20 years down the road and be proud of what I had to say.
