She was a reporter for The Washington Post nearly a decade covering Grand Slam Tennis and Grand Slam Football, as being a basketball reporter at numerous Olympics. Nichols worked for nine years at ESPN and won two Emmy Awards. Nichols was also a part of the network's Monday Night Football broadcasts as an on-line reporter. Nichols worked at TNT as a broadcaster who reported on NBA games, including regular season, playoffs and All Star television broadcasts. Alongside the reporting on TBS, she also covered golf and baseball broadcasts as well as Final Four on CBS. The only woman to have been selected amongst more than 200 nominees over the history of 42 years for this award.
