Madekwe is a British-Nigerian mixed race child, was born to a family in South London. The mother of her child is English while her father is Nigerian. Her family was raised in the south London community estate, and at the age of 14she enrolled in The Brit School. She pursued acting studies at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, London. While attending the school, she appeared in numerous stage productions, such as the King Henry V as Princess Katherine and Wuthering Heights as Catherine Earnshaw.
Madekwe first began her acting career with Storm Damage. She's appeared as an actor in Teachers Doctors Casualty Drop Dead Gorgeous. Madekwe's debut film was her role in the Woody Allen 2007 film Cassandra's Dream. She starred alongside Colin Farrell & Ewan MacGregor. Following that success, she played Elisha in the one-off BBC Three drama pilot West 10 LDN as well as appearing in the six episodes of Trexx as well as Flipside as Ollie. The year 2008 saw her landed the part in the role of Bambi in The ITV2 drama series Secret Diary of a Call Girl, appearing in three and two series. Madekwe was the main character in 2008's comedy How to Alienate and Lose Friends. Her theatre credits include Little Sweet Thing by Roy Williams as well as Flight Path by David Watson.

Ashley Leggat was born in Hamilton, Ontario, into the extended family of a huge, large. She was raised by her parents Roy and Patty and four older brothers: Rob, Brett, and twins Todd and Bram. Ashley's brothers were all extremely athletic, and they played baseball as well as hockey throughout the winter and summer months. She grew up in the arenas and baseball. Ashley was never able to walk. She danced. When she reached two and a half when she was a little older, she was a part of Baby Ballet. Ashley began to be a dancer after this. Ashley continued to perform competitively throughout high school with top divisions like tap, Jazz, Ballet, Pointe, Acrobatics, Musical Theatre, Lyrical, Hip Hop, and more. Ashley was awarded the best soloist awards at all of the major dance competitions including, International Dance Challenge, Showstoppers, 5-6-7-8 Showtime, Flash Dance, and Dance, Dance, Dance to name a few.
